The article deals with the views of the famous Russian philosopher and psychologist I.I. Lapshin on psychological basis of the creative activity of the individual, human cognition, and the laws of thinking. I.I. Lapshin gave an analysis of the content, forms and methods of research in a number of scientific areas of logic, philosophy, psychology, history, biology, mathematics, physics, and others.
