Title
Polemics between H. Ebbinghaus and W. Dilthey on descriptive and explanatory psychology
Authors
Lyzlov, Aleksey Vasilievich
Abstract
The article is devoted to the controversy of H. Ebbinghaus and W. Dilthey on methodological grounds of psychological science. Ebbinghaus insists that scientific psychology can be built entirely on the basis of natural-scientific-oriented research, and criticises Dilthey's distinction between humanitarian and natural-scientific psychology. The author analyzes the arguments of both sides and shows that Dilthey's distinction between two different methodological approaches in psychology has a real sense, ignored by Ebbinghaus.
